| Cantillon Gain A Full Asbestos License | |
Following a strict approval process, Cantillon has been granted a full asbestos removal licence. The licence will help further expand its operations, enabling it to offer a wider range of services. Having held a supervisory license for the past three years, Cantillon was previously licensed to supervise subcontractors with full licenses whilst they carried out removal works. When its supervisory licence came up for renewal in November last year, the company chose to apply for its own full license. Now, with a full asbestos licence, Cantillon can safely remove all asbestos based products (e.g. insulation board, pipe and tank insulation, sprayed) with its in house workforce. Licensed by the HSE’s Asbestos Licensing Unit, the application to become a fully certified asbestos remover involves the introduction of many new procedures, method statements, risk assessments and inspection forms as well as new training for both management staff and operatives. An interview and audit of safety management systems with two HSE inspectors to demonstrate that Cantillon has the relevant knowledge, experience, procedures and training required was all that remained. David Strzelecki, Asbestos Manager at Cantillon, commented, “The asbestos licence will give us a competitive advantage for demolition and strip out jobs that require safe asbestos removal as well as the ability to target purely asbestos removal jobs.” |
