| New Safety Initiatives at Cantillon | |||
A new initiative to increase awareness and individual responsibility for health and safety has been launched by Cantillon. The company's new Health and Safety Manager, John Rimmer is of the view that safety must be the number one concern at all times and he intends to reinforce the message at every level of the business. John wants to ensure that safety is maintained as a value and not just a priority. "Priorities change when programmes are tight or circumstances put people under pressure. Safety is not something that can be shifted down the agenda. Everyone in the company must know, appreciate and act upon the fact that it is a core company value that dictates how we work". To engage the entire staff, a comprehensive Behavioural Safety Programme has been put together in consultation with every member of the workforce. In addition, a competition was held and all staff were invited to submit a strap line for the scheme. "demolition and safety hand in hand" was the winning entry and has been adopted as the Cantillon safety motto. All employees are receiving a comprehensive personal development plan with targeted training to ensure they have the skills to undertake their tasks to the highest level and an increased awareness of their own safety and their responsibility for the safety of others. With these measures in place, Cantillon has affirmed itself as a company that sees health and safety as paramount. |
