| £1.5 million contract at West Thames College | |
A three year contract worth more than £1.5 million has been awarded to Cantillon, one of Britain's market leading demolition contractors, to remove asbestos and redundant buildings at West Thames College, Isleworth. The project, part of a larger £62 million programme by main contractors Osbournes, is highly sensitive, requiring the highest possible levels of health and safety as demolition will take place while pupils are still working in buildings on other parts of the site. The contract also requires special care to protect one of the country's most iconic buildings, Spring Grove House, former home of botanist Sir Joseph Banks, a friend of George III and a traveller with Captain Cook. This Grade 2 listed building is at the centre of the site and will be a major attraction when work is completed. |
